Message from the Principal
ISWA is a co-educational, non-denominational, local, international school that promotes international education, in a local and global environment.
We teach the Australian Curriculum from kindergarten through to Year 10 with a string focus on the Reggio Emilia philosophy and nature play in the Early Childhood Years from kindergarten to Year 2 and the International Baccalaureate pedagogy from kindergarten to Year 12.
We are an International Baccalaureate World School and as such are accredited to teach the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, and are a candidate School for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. ISWA is part of an emergent network of IB Schools in Western Australia and Australia that share a common philosophy – a commitment to a high quality, challenging, international education that will equip our students to become compassionate and productive global citizens.
The school is also registered with the College Board (USA) to offer the rigorous Advanced Placement (AP) courses to our older students – the only school in Australia to do so. ISWA is also registered with the Department of Education Services (Government of Western Australia). Our International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement curricula provide students with a high quality 'portable' education that will stand them in good stead whether they return home, move on to a new country, or stay in Australia.
Our students have achieved outstanding results in the NAPLAN tests (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) which have placed us amongst the top schools in Australia. You can read more about these results and other aspects of the school's performance under School Performance.
ISWA is open to local students as well as international students from Kindergarten through to Year 12. The school is situated in the beautiful suburb of City Beach. It has a strong community feel, whilst at the same time integrating seamlessly with the global community.
If you are new to ISWA, I encourage you to explore our website and get to know us a little better. If you would like to visit us and find out more, you are more than welcome to come and have a closer look at who we are and what we do. Our Registrar, will meet with you, take you for a one to one personalised tour around the school or group tour and introduce you to key staff. On almost every occasion you will also meet with me as Principal of the school.
We have an excellent trial day programme where prospective students can spend a day (or more) experiencing first hand all that ISWA has to offer.
We also have short-term enrolment opportunities (5-10 weeks) and Study Tours which offer an Experiential Learning opportunity to students from overseas.
We also have key staff meetings with prospective parents (and students) to understand on a one to one basis what is unique about each child and what parents are looking for in a school.
To find out more about these opportunities, please speak with ISWA's Community Relations Manager Megan DePiazz, by calling +61 8 9325 1144, or by emailing her at CommunityRelations@iswa.wa.edu.au.
We have three different fee schedules: International (CRICOS); Company and Self-Funded.
ISWA is a unique school as it offers a bespoke programme to cater to the individual needs of each student. It can do this because it's a small, boutique school. The students here are happy and the school community is warm and welcoming to all citizens of the world, both local and international.
Mrs Maria Coate
