Study Tours & Exchange
The International School of Western Australia offers inbound Study Tours, and outbound Student Exchange Programmes, to students wishing to experience international education opportunities.
As an internationally and culturally-minded international school, we offer a small number of Study Tours to overseas students looking for experiential learning opportunities. These students are not enrolled in our school, but are visitors to the school for a number of days or weeks.
This is a wonderful way for overseas students to be able to experience what we have to offer, as well as a unique experience for our own students to make new friends and learn about different cultures.
Our next study tour will take place in Term One. We will be extending a warm ISWA welcome to Chinese high school students from the cities of Shenzhen and Beijing. These students will attend daily classes with our students as short-term international guests.
Our visiting Chinese students will build inter-cultural friendships, expand global perspectives and international understanding, as they gain an invaluable experience of Australian education, living accommodation and culture during their brief visit to Perth.
Student Cultural Exchange
In turn, our students are able to participate in outbound student cultural exchange tours to international destinations.
Our most recent student cultural exchange tour was to the Chinese city of Shenzhen. Our students visited Xuefu Middle School and Xuefu Primary School for a traditional Chinese Cultural Fair and Immersion. Students also attended a LEGO presentation given by the host students and participated in a school basketball game and talent show. Our students had the unique opportunities to attend English, Mathematics, and PE classes together with their Chinese host partners. Some traditional Chinese courses were specifically tailored for our students, such as pottery making, paper cutting, Chinese calligraphy and Chinese pairing.
Our students were accommodated by host students and their families. They received the warmest and most generous hospitality from the host families and the schools of the NSFLS Group.
This one-week long exchange program facilitated students from both schools to build friendships. Developing a sound knowledge of respective cultures, the student exchange tour helped to promote international understanding, strengthen cross-cultural exchanges, and expand global perspectives of both teachers and students.
