ISWA Scholarships are available for academic achievers and students whose actions embody the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile.
The range of scholarships offered at The International School of Western Australia reflects our holistic approach to learning. Amongst the strengths of our education approach is our ability to nurture students from a wide variety of backgrounds, with a wide range of learning styles, in a safe and encouraging learning environment. We pride ourselves on our academic rigour and strong academic results, achieved in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
The range of scholarships offered at ISWA reflects our holistic approach to learning. Scholarships are available from Year 5 to Year 12, and include:
- Academic Scholarships
- International Baccalaureate Learner Profile Scholarships
- All Rounder Scholarships
- Citizenship and Leadership Scholarships
- Subject specific scholarships
All scholarships require a student to have a strong academic record. There are a limited number of scholarships offered each year. Scholarships may be awarded at any point in time during the year.
E-Portfolio & Selection Process
As International Baccalaureate educators, we know that examinations do not always accurately measure the true abilities of children. That is why, unlike other schools, we do not require prospective scholarship recipients to sit an exam, which only ever measures a student’s performance in a specific circumstance on one day.
Instead, applicants are asked to submit an ePortfolio, past academic transcripts, and examples of leadership and community service. This portfolio should include but not be limited to: cover letter; academic transcripts and reports; awards; achievements; community service; leadership aspirations; hobbies and interests. Short-listed candidates then sit a face-to-face interview at the school. While strong academic performance is imperative for scholarship recipients, our scholarship students must also be well-rounded. This helps ISWA award scholarships to students who will thrive in our unique school.
The Principal will read all applications and select suitable candidates for a one to one interview (face to face or Skype) with the Principal and a member of the senior management team. Scholarships are offered at the discretion of the Principal.
“Through the International Baccalaureate program we encourage students to become well-rounded, socially-responsible individuals who will go on to make a difference in local and global communities. Yes, it’s important that Scholarship winners are academically excellent, as we are an academic institution, but it’s just as important that they embody our school (and International Baccalaureate) learner profile, showing us that they are knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, inquirers, balanced and reflective.”
Maria Coate, Principal
Scholarship applicants should send their ePortfolio along with all enrolment application forms to ISWA’s Registrar. Short-listed candidates will be invited to an interview with members of the Senior Management Team, via face-to-face or Skype.
