Welcome to The International School of Western Australia (ISWA).
ISWA is a co-educational, non-denominational, local, international school that promotes international education, in a local and global environment.
We teach the Australian Curriculum from Kindergarten through to Year 10, with a focus on nature play in the Early Childhood Years from Kindergarten to Year 2, and the International Baccalaureate pedagogy from Kindergarten to Year 12.*
ISWA is a unique school as it offers a bespoke programme to cater to the individual needs of each student. We can do this because we are a boutique-sized school, where our students are happy and nurtured. The school community is warm and welcoming to all citizens of the world, both local and international.
Welcoming both local and international students
ISWA is open to local students as well as international students from Kindergarten through to Year 12. The school is situated in the beautiful suburb of City Beach. It has a strong community feel, whilst integrating seamlessly with the global community.
We have three different fee schedules: International (CRICOS); Company and Self-Funded.
International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement Programmes
ISWA is accredited to teach the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, and we are a candidate School for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. ISWA is part of an emergent network of IB Schools in Western Australia and Australia that share a common philosophy: a commitment to a high quality, challenging, international education that will equip our students to become compassionate and productive global citizens.
Additionally, the school is also registered with the U.S. College Board to offer the rigorous Advanced Placement (AP) courses to our older students – the only school in Australia to do so. ISWA is also registered with the Department of Education Services (Government of Western Australia). Our International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement curricula provide students with a high quality ‘portable’ education that will stand them in good stead whether they return home, move on to a new country, or stay in Australia.
Our students have achieved outstanding results in the NAPLAN tests (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) which have placed us amongst the top schools in Australia. You can read more about these results and other aspects of the school’s performance under School Performance.
Trial Days, short-term enrolments, and Study Tours
If you are new to ISWA, I encourage you to explore our website and get to know us a little better. If you would like to visit us and find out more, you are more than welcome to come and have a closer look at who we are and what we do. Our Registrar, will meet with you, take you for a one-to-one or group personalised tour around the school and introduce you to key staff. On almost every occasion you will also meet with me as Principal of the school.
We have an excellent trial day programme where prospective students can spend a day (or more) experiencing firsthand all that ISWA has to offer.
We also have short-term enrolment opportunities (5-10 weeks) and Study Tours which offer an Experiential Learning opportunity to students from overseas.
Meet with us
We are delighted to organise key staff meetings with prospective parents (and students) to understand on a one to one basis what is unique about each child, what parents are looking for in a school, and to discuss together how we can best meet your child’s individual needs.
To find out more about these opportunities, please speak with our Registrar, Megan DePiazz, by calling +61 8 9285 1144, or by emailing her at Registrar@iswa.wa.edu.au.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
