Free Family Event: Cine Vivo Latino Film Festival
We are delighted to partner with CiNE ViVO to bring you a free Family Day screening of Landfill Harmonic (La Orquesta de Cateura) at the International School of Western Australia on Sunday 2nd December from 5 to 9 pm. Please bring along family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and anyone from the general community. You will need to bring picnic chairs and rugs.
There will be live music from the four-piece Cuban band De Cuba Son and the screening of two movies: El Sonar de las Olas (The Sound of Waves) and La Orquesta de Cateura (Landfill Harmonic).
‘Landfill Harmonic follows the heartwarming tale of the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a Paraguayan musical group that plays instruments made entirely out of garbage. When their story goes viral, the orchestra is catapulted into the global spotlight. However, when a natural disaster strikes their country, they must find a way to keep the orchestra intact and provide a source of hope for their town. The film is a testament to the transformative power of music and the resilience of the human spirit.’ (Cine Vivo, 2018)
There will be an Argentinian food truck available, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at our licensed cash bar. Please note this is 18+ and you must drink responsibly.
This will be an opportunity to fund raise for two charities, Surfboards for Kids in Colombia run by Rusty Australia, and La Orquesta de Reciclados de Cateura (The Recycled Orchestra). Please bring cash donations with you.
