The ISWA Difference

The International School of Western Australia (ISWA) delivers a world-class, co-educational, non-denominational education from Kindergarten to Year 12, for local and international students who are living in Perth.

Close to the ocean and city, our modern campus is nestled amongst Perth’s premium suburbs. An ISWA education encourages students to become global citizens, it’s a place where inquiry and curiosity are central to our curriculum and opportunities to excel are realised. We inspire and challenge students to lead lives of purpose, to pursue excellence and to make a difference in the world.

Local and Global

With over 60 nationalities represented, the School community is home to both local and international families living in Perth. By exploring local, national and global issues within the classroom, students develop international-mindedness, strong values and a responsibility to be socially aware and take action in the communities they are part of.

A Sense of Belonging

With families from around the corner and all over the world, a welcoming community is at the heart of our School. This culture of friendliness, inclusivity and warmth ensures everyone belongs.

Non-denominational and Co-educational

A core mission of ISWA is to develop student understanding that other people, with their differences, can also be right. To this end, ISWA provides a non-denominational and co-educational learning environment. This richness and diversity of perspectives enable students to collaborate, exchange ideas and debate issues in a broader context. This leads to a person that is internationally-minded.

Small Size

Our small size creates an environment to explore and the freedom to be. With a maximum of two classes per year group, our students receive equal access, meaningful feedback and swift intervention. The nature of inquiry-based learning empowers ISWA students with the confidence to ask questions and have voice in their learning. Our motivated team provide differentiated and flexible learning experiences and assessments in response to student needs.

A Curriculum for Life Beyond School

Learning at ISWA follows the Western Australian curriculum through the globally recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. This educational approach is internationally admired for its academic and personal rigour. It is designed to nurture inquiry and curiosity, develop life-long learning skills and provide graduates with independence and responsibility to continue studying anywhere in the world.

A Choice of Pathways to University

ISWA is one of the select few schools in Australia to offer the academically rigorous learning pathway of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) for our senior students in Years 11 and 12.

A globally recognised programme, held in high esteem by universities around the world and here in Australia, it is a valid and progressive alternative to the WACE program. A higher and generous weighting is given to the final results of the IB DP which can significantly increase eligibility for university entrance and scholarship.

Academic Excellence

ISWA is consistently ranked as one of Australia’s top schools for the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). Our students are performing above average in all year levels and subjects compared to the state, national and international averages. Given that for many of our students, English is their second language, the results are even more impressive. The IB programme also provides a highly suitable environment for gifted and talented students.
