Last week was a very exciting week at ISWA! Our demountable classrooms were removed from the City Beach campus and relocated to the new Doubleview site. Some of our Administration team went for a site visit during the week to see the classrooms in their new location. We are looking forward to seeing the buildings landscaped to blend into the new surroundings, with nature playgrounds and bush kitchens. The relocation date at this stage is by mid 2020 at the latest. The M Block classes will be moved to the J Block. The administration staff have been working very hard to prepare the school for the new academic year, commencing 22 July 2019.
We spy with our little eye, our Principal, Mrs. Maria Coate, and Head of Primary, Paul O'Brien, featured in the Chinese media!
The pair spent last week visiting China (Beijing and Xi’an) as guests of Ignited Education, to further explore International Education and STEM opportunities. Mrs Coate and Mr O’Brien were guests at board meetings; interviews with the media; visiting schools; networking and promoting ISWA.
Ms. Janice Murray, our Acting Head of Secondary has just returned from an International Baccalaureate Workshop in San Francisco!
Ms. Murray was investigating a new course the IB offers, the Careers Related Programme, to ensure we are always abreast of the latest educational offers available to best cater for all of our students.
As the only candidate from Australia, she enjoyed learning how the course has evolved in the USA and discuss its possibilities in Australia’s changing educational landscape.
Not a surprise to us - she also squeezed in some sightseeing! ... See MoreSee Less
