In the theme of National Science Week, our Secondary students welcomed Professor Lyn Beazley, Western Australia’s Chief Scientist from 2006 to 2013. As part of her role, Lyn advised governments on science and innovation, worked closely with industry and was a science ambassador in Australia and internationally. Lyn has been determined to demonstrate that science is not just a theoretical exercise, but a practical one too. Lyn was part of the negotiating team that ensured Australia would co-host the Square Kilometre Array of radio-telescopes, the world’s largest science endeavour. Year 12 students took part in an Economics Forum with other Year 12 students at the Chamber of Commerce in Perth last Friday. They were able to discuss world Economic issues and present them to their peers. They also had the opportunity to ask questions to some of the leading Economists within the Chamber of Commerce. ...
