Local Perth students can and do attend ISWA. ISWA’s population boasts nearly 40% of local families and 60% of expatriate families who have relocated to Perth. Students benefit from the global perspective when it comes to their education, and their families are warmly welcomed into the inclusive (and sociable) ISWA parent community.
No. Many local families are enrolled at ISWA. The main difference between ISWA and other schools around Perth is that we teach a progressive International Baccalaureate education from K – 12. This is an internationally recognised learning approach which opens the door to universities within Western Australia, across Australia and around the world.
At ISWA, we teach the Australian Curriculum in Years K-10. We use the teaching and learning approach of the International Baccalaureate from K-10 to deliver the curriculum.
Students entering Year 11 and 12 take the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP).
The IB is a world-renowned progressive alternative option to the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) programme and is widely acclaimed for its academic rigour and for how well it prepares students for further education.
Final exams and graduation results can be converted to an Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR), if required. All universities within Western Australia, across Australia and around the world readily accept and may preference, graduates with an IB Diploma.
All graduates also receive a High School Diploma accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC).
Yes, ISWA’s academic calendar is aligned to a northern hemisphere academic calendar, with the school year beginning in late July and finishing in early June. The school year is broken up into four terms. The mid-semester spring and autumn breaks are one-two weeks in duration. The summer and winter breaks are usually five weeks in duration, allowing time for our international families to visit their country of origin.
Yes. OSHClub Doubleview is a comprehensive external service, that works in partnership with ISWA to provide Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services. OSHClub offers engaging activities and delicious food for children enrolled from Kindergarten – Year 6.
OSHClub Doubleview is open from 7.00am – 6.00pm each weekday and offers three programs;
- Before School Care
- After-School Care
- School Holiday Care * (consistent with many dates of ISWA’s academic calendar)
OSHClub Doubleview is located next-door at Doubleview Primary School, staff members are available to walk students from OSHClub to their classes in the mornings and vice versa in the afternoon,

ISWA is an independent and non-for-profit school. We are governed by a Board of Directors, who comprise of community members and parent members. The Board oversees the strategic planning and finances of the school as well as the appointment and monitoring of our Principal.
The Doubleview campus has been built and owned by the WA Department of Education, with ISWA entering into a long-term lease agreement.
ISWA prides itself on the wealth of experience of its staff, with 19 unique nationalities represented across our teaching and administration team. Like the students who make up our school community, many of our teachers have experienced first-hand the joys and challenges of living in a foreign country. A high proportion of our staff have worked at other international schools and taught the IB in other countries. All teachers in Western Australia must be registered with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).
